What is an online file storage?
It is a 24/7 online repository of your files in a super huge server space, wherein you can access it wherever you are or whenever you want. Some of the online file storage service are Google Drive, iSync, and Dropbox.

Dropbox as an "Online File Storage"

Dropbox is one of the many online file storage service provider, and one of the best, Dropbox has been working hard to provide their user with the best service they can have.

Dropbox can handle your files safe, neat, and easy for you, whether it is a  .doc, .jpg, or .mpeg Dropbox fits for it.

Dropbox uses the latest trend of updating and backing up your files, just download the application on their website and install it in you pc, then you will have a dropbox local folder located in your local hard disk, now all of the things that you put in it are synchronize to your online Dropbox account, in that manner your files are automatically backed-up with no messy "Click Upload" thing with your mouse, or attaching your files in an email and saving it as a draft -or you can send it if thats what you do-, it does auto sync. What's nice with this idea is that by the time your computer's hard disk get its "Dead"-line, your files are safe on your online Dropbox account, it's backed-up. And by the time that you just happened to be in something like "Oh no! My flashdrive, where is it?!", Dropbox is there to save you.

Handle Files with Care Please
Dropbox has its nice way of handling your pictures, they provide you with a folder named "Photos" you can put all your pictures in this folder, all the photos you intended to keep safe or share. When you create a folder in this "Photos" folder, Dropbox creates another gallery of photos in your online account too and will provide you with a link where you can view or share your pictures online, plus a slideshow for you to enjoy watching.


Dropbox handle video files in a nice way too, you can watch your videos online or share it to someone using the link that Dropbox will give you.

Dropbox can handle your audio files for sharing or if you just wanna listen to it. When you updload your audio files, Dropbox provides you with another link again, so that you can access your audio files through a link and be able to listen to it wherever you are, or if you want to share it to some, like sharing your audio/music files on facebook.

Other files are handled through zipping when you want to share or download your files.

The Teamates, Coworkers and Colleagues
With Dropbox it's also about sharing your files for collaborative work with your teammates or coworkers. Dropbox lets you do sharing of folders with other Dropbox users or non-Dropbox users, these two are handled differently. For Dropbox users, when they do sharing of folders, all of the people included in the sharing circle will have a copy in their Dropbox account, so that when one of their teamates or coworkers updates a file, everyone gets a copy of that updated file too, now that's real time collaborative work. With non-Dropbox user, they will just have the access through links, although files are updated too.

Never too late to retrieve the "Deleted Ones"
Dropbox actually has the ability to restore your deleted files on your online account, when you actually deleted it when it happens not to be, and Dropbox can restore some previous versions of your files. It's just that, it's never too late to retrieve the deleted ones, wew.

Dropbox as your friendly "File Host-er"

Dropbox can actually host your public files, if you want it to be available to your friends or public. Dropbox provides you a "Public" folder, and all the files in this folder has their respective public link which you can use to provide a download link to others. If you happend to be having a website and you want to host your files for your visitors, you can use Dropbox's public folder, just a little tweak on the html codes and you can provide your visitors with the download link.

Security is a big factor to consider when talking about cyber affairs. Dropbox has a dedicated team who works hard to keep the files in their servers safe and sound. An important thing to note is that, Dropbox employees has no way to get into your files except it be when it demands that it should be, like offering customer support, but I think before they access your files they are bound to ask you for your permission first.

Public files are only viewable by people who have a link to the file(s).
